Good work today on the notes. I'm getting the sense that this is one of the more difficult sections to get through. I will post the link for the cell respiration video in the Special Links portion of the blog. Lets do a discussion on cell respiration here. Bring up a question and see who in the class can help you answer it. I'll give everyone until Thursday to post either a question or response. If you post a question try to respond to someone else.
Why is the substance X called the reducing agent?
ReplyDeleteSubstance X is the reducing agent because it donates electrons, thereby reducing other substances. It becomes oxidized in the process.
ReplyDeleteWhy do oxidation and reduction always go together?
ReplyDeleteWhat does glucose? (HINT: a form of energy and what?)
ReplyDeleteWhat does glucose produce? (HINT: a form of energy and what?)
ReplyDelete(Answer to Haljnl1) because an electron transfer requires both a donor and an acceptor, therefore because an electron is added to one substance (reduction) and an electron is taken away from a substance (oxidation) they both always go together.
ReplyDelete(answer to Tyler) Glucose produces ATP and heat.
ReplyDeleteAlright I just saw this, so what is the point of cell respiration?
