So much information!!!!

Good work today on the notes.  I'm getting the sense that this is one of the more difficult sections to get through.  I will post the link for the cell respiration video in the Special Links portion of the blog.  Lets do a discussion on cell respiration here.  Bring up a question and see who in the class can help you answer it.  I'll give everyone until Thursday to post either a question or response.  If you post a question try to respond to someone else.

Mitosis and Meiosis Lab

For your final lab write-up go to the Mary Churchill link on this blog.  You should probably put it in your "favorites".

Scroll down until you see the button for AP Lab #3 Conclusion Requirements.  Click where it says HERE.  This is what I am using as my rubric to grade your write-up. You must turn in TYPED Analysis Questions from the lab packet (Questions 1-3 pg 33; 1-2 pg 34; and 1-5 pg 39-40), the hand drawn diagrams of each stage, table 3.1 and the table from the "Sordaria" portion of the lab.   For the CONCLUSION you must also follow the instructions and questions for all four paragraphs listed.  Remember all rules still apply for table labels and titles.

If you have any questions, as always, I am available in the classroom before school and  after C period EVERY DAY.

Great new website!!

I will place the website under links, and you really need to take a look.  Not only does it have each lab download available, but there are some great links as well.  You can take a peak at Ms. Churchill's class webpage and see what lab reports are supposed to look like.  Some of the posted labs even have comments from Ms. Churchill on what needs to be more complete.  This is going to be a fabulous resource for the rest of the year.  Get acquainted with it.

Crazy Monday for a big week!

Today we started chapter 5 lecture on macromolecules.  Specifically we discussed carbohydrates and lipids. Tomorrow we will finish up the lecture and you will prepare for your TEST Wednesday.  Study questions are due Wednesday BEFORE I hand out the exams.  You will have earned a ZERO if you do not turn in the study questions at that time.  No second chances will be given.

I am still working on how to post the PowerPoints to this site.  If I do not figure it out by lunch tomorrow and you would like the PPT comment to this post and I will send it to you.  Don't forget to use this blog as a place for information.  If you have a study question you need answered chances are someone else has the same question.  If you post the question I can answer and get it to more than one person at a time.

I will be in the classroom around 715a tomorrow morning if you would like some extra assistance.

So remember...

...when I asked if there was anymore "housekeeping" things I needed to talk about today?  There was!  On the left-hand side of the blog page there is a new link posted titled "Explore Biology PowerPoints".  This is going to be a resource for you as it is literally the PowerPoints I use in class.

I've noticed the last two days that many people are not taking notes in class.  This is fine if you can prove to me you are doing well on the tests without in-class note taking.  By "well" I mean 85% or higher.  Although the lectures are review, there are hints to help you remember and understand.  It would be more useful to you to have those hints when you are studying later.

Study your chapter 2 and chapter 3 study questions/notes this evening.  I will see you in the manana.

First Day Summary

Today we had a PowerPoint and reviewed chapter 2.  Tonight your assignment is to read chapter 3 and complete the study questions.  There was a little confusion as to what is due and what is not.  I will clear it up now.  Before the test...NEXT WEEK...you will turn in the study questions.  The chapter objectives are for you to keep and use as a study guide.  So, to reiterate...only turn in the study questions

Make sure you are keeping up to date with all the reading.  Assignments, quizzes, and tests will have a way of sneaking up on you if you do not.

For right now we are not going to use the access codes in the text book, so that is one thing you don't have to worry about.

I hope you are as excited about me as I am about teaching you.  I know it's an odd thing to be going through, but I promise the transition won't be too painful.

First Assignment of New Regime.

...Do you want an easy grade? The first graded assignment I will give you is to become a follower of this blog and subscribe to the feed.  Easy Peasy!  No, I will not be saying stuff like that all year...or will I??

Here is the low down...you don't have a choice on this.  This is a place for discussion, and responses will be required throughout the year.  In order to do that you must be a follower.  Once you have completed the assignment post a quick comment telling me the action was completed.
